Intro to Dancing in Second Life
This 30-minute class introduces basic dance concepts and terms, and provides a concise one-song example of six major dance styles that are popular in dance clubs in Second Life and real life. Waltz Slow (English), Viennese - (3 count) Swing East Coast Swing, Jive, Lindy Hop (4-6-8 Count) Nightclub West Coast Swing, Hustle (4-Count Slot step) Slow "Foxtrot" Dancing, Box Step (4-Count) Salsa NYC's synthesis of Cuban Son, Cha-cha, and Mambo (3-2 and 2-3 clave rhythms 8-count) Tango Argentina/Uruguay Criollo-creole (free count) Our 2Ldance.org music stream plays a continuous loop of songs that match these dances, in the sequence shown (starting with the Waltz.) In Self-Guided mode, you can just start right in on whatever dance is current. The loop repeats after a few hours, so you can repeat the class several times without hearing repeated songs. |

Self-Guided and Instructor-Led Classes
All Phase I classes will be available SELF-GUIDED (recorded) and LIVE INSTRUCTOR modes. All 2Ldance.org classes are FREE. LIVE Instructors may have Tip Jars - show them some $L Luv. Dance 101 runs continuously on Radio Channel 1. Just hop right in and follow along.
Self-Guided Class Etiquette
Runs continuously 24x7 Couples can join in at any time Recorded instructor directions for each dance/song Use the 2Ldance.org music stream for songs to match the dances At each song change, follows change to next partner (meet them in IM) By the end of class, you will know five new dance partners! Instructor-Led Class Etiquette
Specific start time as advertised Couples can join in during the class (start near center/instructors) Instructors may use local chat, voice, or DJ talkover music (varies) Either the 2Ldance.org stream, or Live DJ control of songs to match dances At each song change, follows change to next partner (meet them in IM) By the end of class, you will know five new dance partners! |
