2LDance.org HOSTS

Hosted Events
2LDance.org provides training for HOSTs to work at HOSTED EVENTS at our Venue Partner Dance Studios. Hosts can "self-train" using these materials. 2LDance.org staff are available to assist and to "certify" new hosts if they want to become part of our 2LDance.org staff (and join our staff group.)
Our Venue Partners schedule their HOSTED EVENTS and work directly with their hosts to determine when to work. Our Venue Partners are not required to use Hosts certified by 2LDance.org. All venue partners have agreed to allow our HOSTs and LIVE INSTRUCTORS to place tip jars for these events (100% tip to talent.) 2LDance.org staff Hosts (who have joined our staff group) may login to the tip jars we provide. 2LDance.org does not hire or schedule hosts. We will assist our Venue Partners to connect with hosts we have trained and "certified" and who are members of the 2LDance.org staff group. We will add any Hosted or Live Instructor classes to our website Calendar. Simply IM or email Carlyle with that information. |
What Hosts Do
HOST Checklist:
1. WELCOME (Greet) 2. ASSIST Joining in the class 3. Help CHANGE PARTNERs 4. PROMOTE the Venue, especially their Dance Events |
Our Dance Event HOSTS provide the following functions:
1. Welcome (Greet in open chat) new arrivals to the Venue Partner facility ("Studio":) Have at least six different stock greetings available to cut and paste into chat Always welcome avatars BY THEIR FIRST NAME Direct newcomers to join in at a vacant circle or pad CLOSEST TO THE INSTRUCTORS, if present Otherwise, direct them towards the CENTER of the Studio floor, and NEXT TO an existing couple We want the couples to be CLOSE to each other to facilitate changing partners 2. Assist participants in joining the class in progress Use PRIVATE IM to provide more extensive help joining in - not open chat You should understand our JOIN IN procedure, for both Dance Circles AND Dance Pad venues The LEAD is the person who will request the dance balls (usually the MALE of a couple) The FOLLOW is the person who responds to the direction of the LEAD (usually the FEMALE of a couple) Leads and Follows can be of any gender. It may help if the TALLER of a couple serves as LEAD. 3. Facilitate the CHANGE PARTNERS directions, where "Leads stay where they are, and Follows change partners." Venues should have the direction of Follow change marked on the floor with arrows (linear and circular layouts.) After EACH SONG, during the JINGLE TRACK, Follows Should Change Partners If any couple is hesitant, tell them this is an important part of the Class experience, just like RL Do not FORCE the partner change, but remind them EACH TIME. They may change their mind! Suggest that the Follows private IM their new partner and share introductions 4. Be prepared to respond to questions about LIVE INSTRUCTOR classes and other HOSTED EVENTS at the Venue Partner facility you are hosting at. The Venue Partner should provide you this info. Dance Class Etiquette Participants should only use open chat to ask questions of the host or instructors, or to make comments of importance to all class participants. Chatter between participants should be done in PRIVATE IM, NOT open chat. Participants should NOT USE OPEN VOICE, except to LISTEN to Instructors (if and when they use voice) Participants are encouraged to private IM the host (or instructors) with questions or comments Tips are NEVER required, and are only accepted by Hosts and Instructors. 2LDance.org does not solicit tips or fees from any Venue Partner, Host, Live Instructor or participant nor do we provide tip jars for this purpose. We provide everything Free of Charge to facilitate our mission. |
Become an Instructor |
If you have successful experience HOSTING 2LDance.org Classes, please consider becoming a trained and certified Live Class Instructor. You'll be able to provide a lot more fun for the class participants, and can expect significantly larger tips. Read the Live Instructor training pages and contact Carlyle Chaparral for the training.
